Course Description:
Joint manipulation has been utilized to help musculoskeletal conditions for thousands of years. Unfortunately, manipulation is often used in isolation and not integrated with other modalities which would make clinical outcomes more impactful. Joint blockage is often the result of poor stabilization. The central nervous system reorganizes how muscles are being utilized and results in tension, tone, trigger points and eventually joint blockage. Manipulation can be very useful in restoring normal joint play. When integrated with DNS, manipulation can be very useful to help establish joint centration in cases where joints have been severely restricted for long periods of time. To date, no course has shown how to integrate joint play, manipulation, and DNS corrective exercise. Participants will be shown how to perform joint play of the various spinal joints and how to match manipulative techniques to these restrictions. Ideas for DNS corrective exercise will be reviewed for each joint blockage. The current research on joint manipulation clearly shows that outcomes are significantly better when combined with other modalities such as DNS. This 2 day course will highlight the power of combining DNS principles with joint manipulation.
Course Objectives
A thorough review will be given on the history of joint manipulation and the current research supporting its application.
Since manipulation is a psycho-motor skill, participants will be shown to how to generate the force necessary for this skill.
DNS assessments will be shown to visualize joint blockages.
Participants will be shown how to joint play the various spinal joints to confirm the findings from DNS assessments.
Manipulation techniques will be demonstrated to address these joint blockages.
DNS corrective exercise will be shown as it relates to specific joint blockages.
Case studies will be demonstrated to show how manipulation and DNS can be combined to treat various diagnoses.
