Course Objectives:
Introduction to DNS principles and Developmental Kinesiology (DK) - relevance for Pilates instructors.
Summary of philosophies of Joseph Pilates and similarities to DK – e.g. upright spine, physiological breathing, “core” stabilization.
Understanding relationship between development during the first year of life and dysfunction of the movement system in adulthood, including common postural and breathing dysfunctions.
Discussion and demonstration of the foundations of human movement: postural support, stepping forward, biomechanics of motor function, the process of verticalization, and functional joint centration in postural development.
Evaluation and correction of poor respiratory patterns, and instruction in proper breathing techniques through both isolated and integrated DNS and Pilates exercises.
Understanding sagittal stabilization and assessment of the Integrated Spinal Stabilization System (ISSS), both visually and using DNS functional tests.
Integrate DNS tests into pre-Pilates exercises and instruction.
Use of Pilates equipment to facilitate proper motor learning of global movement patterns.
Exercises to enhance movement awareness, motor control, coordination, and range of motion.
Achieving optimal movement parameters: support, stride, biomechanics of movement functions, trunk stabilization and functional joint centration.
Selecting appropriate equipment and exercises to influence stability or mobility in specific body segments for clients or patients.
Identifying the functional threshold of a given exercise. Setting resistances and selecting equipment for modification, intensity and difficulty of the exercise.
Prague School Registration Fee
Trainers, coaches, body work therapists, exercise physiologists & kinesiologists and clinicians practicing Pilates. Please contact the local organizer, if you are part of a group that is not listed above.
It is not a payment for the course. Please contact the local organizer to secure your enrollment in the course and make sure that the course is not full, prior to paying Prague School registration fee. Once your PS fee is completed, your registration will automatically be sent to the course organizer. After that, payment of course fees can be made with the organizer. The organizer reserves the right to request proof of licensure.
The Prague School registration fee is non-refundable.
Without your online registration and PS fee payment you will not be permitted to attend any DNS course nor will you receive the Prague School Certificate of Attendance; thus you cannot take the DNS test and you will not be allowed to register for later advanced courses.
Upon you registration and payment, you will receive an automatic email with a link to download the course notes. This email goes to the email address you provide during your payment procedure. If you do not receive this email within one hour after a payment, please contact info@rehabps.com and request the course notes. Hard copies will not be available at the host location.
